Cleveland’s wasted no time in announcing the 2020 finalists for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and its a good group. Soundgarden, NIN, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Notorious BIG, Doobie Brothers and Whitney Houston are in the running. We’ll know who gets an official invite to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in late January. The ceremony is scheduled for May 2020 at the Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. HBO will broadcast the ceremony later in the year. In order for an artist to be eligible for the Hall of Fame, their first recording must have been released at least 25 years ago or earlier. The Notorious B.I.G., Soundgarden, Motörhead, DMB, and Whitney Houston have all been nominated for the first time.
Vicky Cornell, wife of late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, thanked fans and the Rock Hall for the nomination: “Congratulations @soundgraden,” Vicky wrote on Twitter. “I know @chriscornell would be so honored! Thank you @rockhall this means so much…”
