Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons will both be on the upcoming Queens of the Stone Age album. It’s a rock triad we didn’t know we needed.
Gibbons kind of spilled the beans on the collaborations, but we’re not mad about it. During an interview at Hellfest this past weekend (June 21-23, 2019) with eonmusic, he stated, “Just one month ago I was making a record with Queens of the Stone Age and Dave Grohl was also taking part and he decided to have a big barbecue. So there was this interesting gathering. So, we spent one hour telling stories, great stories remembering these lovely guys.” Gibbons was referring to reminiscing about Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell of Pantera (aka “these lovely guys”), one year after Vinnie’s death.
Gibbons confirmed that this venture is for a Queens of the Stone Age album and not a “Desert Sessions” collaboration with the band’s frontman, Josh Homme. He also added that this creation should be released in October, stating, “He’s completed it. I think that he said he wants to put it out Halloween. It’ll be good.”
We can’t wait! But while we do, we’ll be listening to their previous hits on repeat…like the one below.
