Rodney Dangerfield’s ‘Back to School’ Is Being Turned Into a Reality Show

Rodney Dangerfield’s classic 1986 comedy Back to School is coming to TV…but as a reality show.

In the movie, Rodney played a self-made millionaire named Thornton Melon who never went to college. When his son announces he’s dropping out, Thornton convinces him to stay by enrolling and going to school with him.

Melissa McCarthy did a takeoff on it with last year’s Life of the Party.

Anyway, the “Back to School” reality show sounds simple enough: Parents go to college with their kids. But of course, all kinds of contrived awkwardness, tension, and hilarity will ensue. There’s no word where or when it’ll air.

(I have to say I’m really not interested unless one of the parents pulls off the Triple Lindy.)
