All You Need to Know About Mötley Crüe Biopic

Netflix released The Dirt, a Mötley Crüe biopic, last week on March 22.

The movie is based off of bassist Nikki Sixx’s autobiography about the band and their adventures in the world of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.

The film has gained a lot of popularity among viewers on social media, but fact-checking critics aren’t big fans of it. According to Pitchfork, the movie “misses the point”. They go on to say, “It can’t seem to decide between being a smirking send-up of rock-star and rock-movie excess, or a love letter to the band’s collective youth.”

Despite the overwhelming negativity from critics, many of them actually liked how The Dirt broke the fourth wall a few times. WhatCulture describes it as “pretty great” and says, “the knowing winks to camera give it an edge of Wayne’s World…and you have to admire the cockiness to defy story-telling convention. It’s very, very Mötley Crüe.”

The Dirt is currently streaming on Netflix. Check the trailer out below.
