La Cuca Racha!
I am the cockroach of Afternoon Drive radio in Atlanta, I love it! This new station is more than just a job for me, it's my passion. This is the music I grew up with and the bands I still see in concert.
I quit sports and dedicated all my energy to music when I heard Motley Crue's Too Fast For Love. I was going to college at Southern Illinois University in 1989 and ended up drinking at a bar with Bret Michaels for 6 hours when Poison was rolling through town, Bret convinced me to follow my heart and try for a career in music. I dropped out of SIU, moved to Atlanta and finished my degree in music business management. I worked for Arista Records putting up Jermaine Jackson displays my first week, I didn't care, I was in the music business. A year later, Arista was going through restructuring and my boss, Linda Alter hooked me up with her friend Leslie Fram, next thing I knew, I was working for the last month of Power 99 helping produce their morning show... ok, I got breakfast every morning. A month later, Power was gone and 99X was born.
Since they had to let most of the Power air staff go and since I had a pulse and could speak English, I found myself on the air. I grew up in Chicago listening to radio legends like Steve Dahl, Jonathan Brandmeier and Kevin Matthews, I never thought I would end up doing something similar. I love all sorts of rock, still love NIN, 311, AFI and still have em' on my ipod but Motley, AC/DC, Ozzy, Stones, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Led Zepplin, are you kidding me? I'm loving ROCK 100.5!
Me in a nutshell:
May I live 1000 years and YOU, a 1000 years and one day so I never have to see beautiful people like you pass away. I stole that from James Brown.
Thanks for listening,
Cheers!

Me in a nutshell:
- I have a wife, Kellye, 2 daughters (Ava Flav & Vivian)
- I love my Harley (2004 custom wide glide)
- I golf, shot a legit 38 on a back nine but still haven't shot below a 90 never take mulligans.
- I play guitar, been playing for 10 years and I know 10 songs, that's a song a year MoFo!
- I have a bar in my basement, after years of working promotions in bars, I brought the bar to me.
- A perfect summer day is boating on Lake Lanier with a cooler and Bob Seger's Greatest Hits cd.
- I live in Alpharetta and I'm on a mission to find the perfect thin crust Chicago pizza, nothing close so far.
- I have a dog and a cat, strange story, when I was interviewing Slash, he told me he had a cat named Axl (it came up because of my radio name Axel). I told him I had a cat named Curtis because he's black and my last name is Lowe, Curtis Lowe, the old black blues singer in the Lynyrd Skynyrd song, then Slash says he has a black Mountain Lion named Curtis, how random is that?
- I guess I should explain my name Axel, going back to the beginning of my radio career, working on the Power 99 morning show, a group of 5th graders came through on a tour, saw me from behind and thought I was Axl Rose, I had hair down to my belt loops but looked nothing like him, their wishful thinking. That was my first day on the job, so it was easier for all of them (Rick Stacey, Leslie, Sean, Steve, Wil Pendarvis) to remember then Andy. There you have it, just made the spelling a little different so I could google myself. Don't tell me you don't google yourself, 9 out of 10 do and the 10th one lies... maybe that applies to something else?
