THE
INSIDE TRACK ATLANTA'S ROCK STATION, 99X.COM AND ALL THE HITS Q100 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2008
MARKETING AND PROMOTIONS DEPARTMENT
The
Marketing and Promotions Department generates the images of the
stations. Marketing includes the appearance of collateral material,
special events, projects and branding. It also involves the 99X
Freeloader and Q100 Insider direct marketing projects as well as 99X.com, AllTheHitsQ100.com and other Internet projects. Promotions is responsible
for the stations appearances and contests. The Marketing and Promotions
Department is charged with building a contemporary hip perception
from the marketplace's reality.
The
Marketing and Promotions Department internship runs for approximately
three weeks. The student reports to the Director of Marketing and
Promotions, the Promotions Manager and / or the Director of Interactive Media if tasks involve the direct marketing projects or the websites. Activities and duties are
established by the Directors and are generally outside of the regular 9a-5p work hours and may include:
- Initial meeting
with the Directors to schedule the program, receive a meeting list,
meet the staff and get an overview of the department
- Attend promotions meetings
- Attend remotes
and appearances to receive training on equipment and how to set
up the vans, Marti, PA system, banners, signage and "live" set
- Participate
in van hits
- Attend concerts,
listening parties, movie premieres and live performances
- Assemble
prize packs and giveaway
- Create prize
winner sheets
- Assemble
contest boxes, registration blanks and similar collateral material
- Write appearance
calendar promos
- Conduct phone
research to update Freeloader / Q100 Insider database, code applications and
recruit
- Clean and
restock station vehicles
- Send product
request letters to record labels
- Conduct follow-up
phone calls to media to verify receipt of press releases
- Assist with
delivering product and equipment to retail and promotional partners
- Complete
reading assignments such as industry trades, periodicals and books
The intern's performance
is reviewed following the completion of the department program.
