BUSINESS
DEPARTMENT
The
Business Office is responsible for the financial accounting of the
internal and external expenses and revenue. They schedule, invoice
and account for client advertising expenditures. Internally, they
create profit and loss statements, execute personnel functions such
as benefits and payroll and are record keepers for our Equal Employment
procedures and the Public Inspection Files.
The
Business Office internship runs for approximately one week. The
student reports to the Business Manager. Activities and duties are
established by the Business Manager and may include:
- Initial meeting
with the Business Manager to schedule the program, meet the staff
and get an overview of the department
- Conduct
accounts receivable collection calls
- Collect information
for the preparation of profit and loss statements
- Update the
Public Inspection Files
- Review the
station EEO procedures and conduct a search for new sources
- Assist the
Traffic and Continuity Directors and participate in the logging
and scheduling process of commercial and promotional copy
- Commercial
assignments
- Observe digital
production and storage process
- File tapes
and scripts
- Post logs
The intern's performance
is reviewed following the completion of the department program
